The BRS 6-Stage Deluxe Plus 100 GPD RO/DI System is the most practical upgrade any reef keeper can make. Tap water — even treated city water — contains chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, silicates and dozens of other dissolved contaminants that fuel algae, destabilize parameters and stress coral. This system removes all of it, producing 0 TDS ultra-pure water on demand, right at home. No hauling jugs from the fish store, no uncertainty about water quality — just clean, consistent water every time you need it.
Best suited for: city water treated with chlorine or chloramines, and most well water sources.
Six stages — each with a specific job
Stage 1 — Sediment Filter
A 1-micron GE RO Save.Z Premium Sediment Filter removes larger particles — dirt, rust, sand and debris — from the incoming supply before they can reach and damage the more sensitive downstream filters. This first stage is what protects and extends the life of everything that follows.
Stages 2 & 3 — Dual Carbon Blocks
Two BRS 1-micron Universal Carbon Blocks work together to strip chlorine and chloramines from the water before it reaches the RO membrane. A single carbon block handles chlorine well — but chloramines require dual-stage carbon to be fully neutralised. This dual configuration is what makes the 6-Stage system appropriate for the majority of city water supplies in the US.
Stage 4 — RO Membrane
The DOW Filmtec 100 GPD membrane is the core of the system. Under pressure, purified water passes through the membrane while the vast majority of dissolved solids — heavy metals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and more — are flushed away in a separate waste stream. DOW Filmtec membranes are the industry standard for reliability and rejection rates.
Stages 5 & 6 — Dual Deionization Cartridges
Two canisters of BRS Color-Changing Mixed Bed DI Resin polish the water to a confirmed 0 TDS after the membrane. The dual canister design is a significant practical advantage: as the first cartridge depletes, the second continues producing 0 TDS water. When the first is fully exhausted, rotate it to the back and refill it — a simple first-in, first-out method that eliminates the need to constantly monitor resin levels and ensures you never accidentally produce water with residual TDS.
The color-changing resin removes any guesswork — dark blue when fresh, turning gold as it exhausts.
Deluxe Plus upgrades — monitoring and maintenance built in
The Plus version adds three features that make a real difference in day-to-day use:
A glycerin-filled pressure gauge lets you confirm incoming water pressure is within the optimal range for membrane performance — too low and rejection rates drop, too high and the membrane wears prematurely.
A manual flush flow restrictor lets you quickly flush accumulated contaminants off the membrane surface, extending its service life significantly with minimal effort.
A dual inline TDS meter continuously monitors dissolved solids both before and after the DI stage, giving you instant confirmation that your output water is hitting 0 TDS and immediate warning if something is wrong.
No plumbing experience needed
The system ships with a Garden Hose / Utility Sink Adapter and Faucet Diverter Valve for simple temporary connections, plus an EZ Angle Stop Adapter and Drain Saddle Clamp for a permanent under-sink installation. Multiple faucet adapters are included to fit a wide range of standard fittings.
