Description
The BRS 7-Stage PRO Plus 200 GPD Water Saver is the flagship of the BRS RO/DI range — the system built for reefers who need more water, faster, with less waste and more precise control over every stage of filtration. Where the 6-Stage Deluxe is the right choice for most hobbyists, the 7-Stage PRO is for those running larger tanks, frequent water changes or simply wanting the most capable system available.
Best suited for: city water treated with chlorine or chloramines, and well water sources. Requires source water pressure of 65+ PSI. For water with 200+ TDS, a single-membrane system is recommended to limit DI resin consumption.
Seven stages — built around two major upgrades over the 6-Stage
Stage 1 — Sediment Filter
A 1-micron GE RO Save.Z Premium Sediment Filter removes particles — dirt, rust, sand and debris — before they can reach and damage downstream filters. This protective first stage extends the life of everything that follows.
Stages 2 & 3 — Dual Carbon Blocks
Two BRS 1-micron Universal Carbon Blocks neutralise both chlorine and chloramines before the water reaches the membranes. The dual configuration is essential for city water sources — a single carbon block cannot fully remove chloramines, which would otherwise damage the RO membranes over time.
Stage 4 — Dual RO Membranes (Water Saver)
This is the defining upgrade of the 7-Stage PRO. Instead of one DOW Filmtec membrane, this system runs two 100 GPD membranes in a water-saver configuration: the waste stream from the first membrane feeds directly into the second membrane for a second pass of filtration.
The result is significant on two fronts. Product water is produced twice as fast — 200 GPD versus 100 GPD from a single-membrane system — and waste water is cut by approximately half, since water that would otherwise be discarded is instead filtered a second time. For high-usage systems doing frequent large water changes, this reduces both waiting time and water bill noticeably.
Stages 5, 6 & 7 — Pro Series Three-Stage DI
The Pro Series DI setup is the second major upgrade over standard RO/DI systems. Rather than one mixed bed cartridge handling all deionisation, the Pro system separates the process into three dedicated stages:
Stage 5 uses Cation Resin to target positively charged ions — aluminum, iron and similar contaminants. Stage 6 uses Anion Resin to capture negatively charged ions — nitrate, phosphate, silica and dissolved CO2. Stage 7 finishes with Mixed Bed Resin that polishes anything remaining and guarantees 0 TDS output.
The practical benefit of this separation is significant: when one resin type is exhausted, you replace only that cartridge rather than the entire mixed bed. Over time this reduces ongoing consumable costs and makes resin changes more targeted and economical. The three-stage setup is also especially effective for water sources with elevated dissolved CO2, which can exhaust mixed bed resin rapidly when it isn’t pre-captured by a dedicated anion stage.
All three DI cartridges feature color-changing resin — monitoring depletion is visual and immediate.
PRO Plus monitoring package
The Plus version ships with three upgrades that transform day-to-day operation:
A glycerin-filled pressure gauge confirms incoming water pressure is within the optimal operating range for the membranes — critical on a dual-membrane system where pressure requirements are higher than a single-membrane setup.
A manual flush flow restrictor lets you clear built-up contaminants from the membrane surfaces in seconds, significantly extending membrane service life.
A triple inline TDS meter monitors dissolved solids at three points in the system simultaneously — before filtration, after the membranes and after the DI stages — giving you a complete picture of how each section of the system is performing and instant warning if any stage begins to fail.
No plumbing experience required
Connects to a garden hose, utility sink or kitchen faucet via included adapters. For a permanent installation, EZ Angle Stop Adapter and Drain Saddle Clamp are also included. Full setup instructions provided.
